‘Dancing Grandma' Honored for Community Service

The 107-year-old D.C. woman who became a national sensation after dancing with the Obamas at the White House received an award Tuesday from Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Virginia McLaurin volunteers daily at an elementary school in her D.C. neighborhood. The mayor recognized McLaurin and other volunteers for their community service in the annual Mayor's Day of Recognition.

More than 16,000 county officials and mayors across the county participated in the national initiative.
