In addition to all that Revolutionary War-winning and First American President-being, George Washington also saw to it that people had plenty of wine to drink.
What didn't he do?
Now you can learn about Washington's winemaking -- and, equally importantly, taste wines from 16 Virginia wineries at the upcoming Spring Wine Festival & Sunset Tour at Mount Vernon Estate.
The event also offers live jazz on the lawn and a candlelit tours of the mansion, including the rarely opened basement where Washington stored his wine.
The estate is located at 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway in Mount Vernon, Va., about 15 miles south of downtown D.C.
