Shattering the Glass Ceiling: Not Recommended Here

Christmas City, USA -- also known as Bethlehem, Penn. -- is also home to one of the most charming inns around. The Sayre Mansion was the first house built in the wealthy neighborhood of Fountain Hill in the 19th century.

Despite its location on a busy street in the middle of town, the inn manages to create a cozy and comfortable environment, free of outside annoyances.

The inn is separated into two areas, the Carriage House and the Main House. The Carriage House's three suites are all refurbished, but still display the original hardwood floors and elegant aesthetic of the inn's early years. Free wifi, deluxe triple sheeting and feather beds are also standard.

The Main House holds the majority of the rooms, 19 total. All rooms offer air conditioning, private baths, cable and wifi. Our favorite room here is the Conservatory Suite, complete with a glass ceiling and all the natural light a human could want. We're not sure anyone could have a bad day staying in a suite like this. The rooftop getaway offers a 180-degree look at the city of Bethlehem. The wall fountain and Franklin Stove fireplace only add to the already tranquil environment.

There are seven packages to choose from, including The Town and Country, which includes a $100 gift certificate to local restaurant and free lift tickets to Shawnee Mountain. The Romantic Getaway package includes a dozen roses in your room, a bottle of bubbly, a limo ride, breakfast in bed and more.

The Sayre Mansion is located at 250 Wyandotte St. in Bethlehem, Penn., about 180 miles northeast of downtown D.C. Call 877-345-9019 for reservations.
