Horse Whispering 101 in Virginia

Let your inner equestrian run wild this Spring with an introduction to horses at the Reba Farm Inn in Bedford, Va., about four hours southwest of D.C.

If you've been entertaining the thought of possibly owning your own horse (who didn't want a pony when they were little?), want to learn what it takes to care for a horse, or just want to hop in a saddle, this is the trip for you.

A hands-on intro course will include grooming and tacking -- e.g. process of using the saddle, stirrups, bridles, halters and reins. After your lessons, enjoy a countryside horseback ride.

The cost of the course includes two nights' lodging, two breakfasts, two dinners and one lunch. The next available package runs Friday-Saturday, June 8-9.

The Reba Inn (1099 Reba Farm Lane, Bedford, Va.), which is a quaint bed and breakfast style lodge, also has moonlight trail rides, horse clinics and overnight camping trail rides.
