Mason Neck State Park in Fairfax County is currently among the top two parks in a contest to receive a $100,000 grant from Coca-Cola.
As part of its fourth annual America Is Your Park campaign to promote more active and outdoor lifestyles, Coca-Cola is sponsoring a national competition to crown America’s favorite park.
Anyone who wants to support Mason Neck’s efforts can vote for it on the Coca-Cola website, by checking in on Foursquare or by charting daily activities on MapMyFitness.
Votes can be cast until the July 15 deadline and will count double on July 13 and 14.
Mason Neck has been fluctuating between first and second place since voting began. The Virginia park has 269,036 votes as of 11 a.m. Thursday, according to the contest page.
The winning park will earn the title of “America’s Favorite Park,” as well as the $100,000 recreation grant. The second and third-place parks will win $50,000 and $25,000 grants, respectively.
