Family Fun and a Taste of History at Sailabration

Baltimore celebrates the bicentennial of the War of 1812

If you’re looking for family fun with a side of national history, head up to Baltimore. Starting next week, the city will be hosting the Star Spangled Sailabration, commemorating the bicentennial of the War of 1812.

From June 13-19, the city’s harbor area will play host to an assortment of free events. These include cooking demonstrations from top Baltimore chefs, live music and historical exhibits. Ships from both the United States and abroad will also be visiting, and tours will be offered throughout the week. And over the weekend, Baltimore will host its very first air show, featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

Event and ship tour hours vary, and the Blue Angels will perform from 1-4 p.m. on June 16 and 17. Viewing areas for the air show have been designated at MedStar Harbor Hospital, Port Covington and Martin State Airport.
