Old-Time Farm Fest Breaks Out the Threshers

We can NEVER pass up a chance to see old-timey gadgets and occupations at work.

    Blacksmiths! Whoo!

That’s why we wouldn’t miss the 52nd annual Eastern Shore Thresherman Engine Show (5806 Federalsburg Highway, Federalsburg, Md.), just about two hours from downtown D.C.

This free event allows the young and not-so-young to catch demos of old steam threshers, antique tractors and old cars, while devouring plenty of down-home food -- including a breakfast at early as 7 a.m. for the early birds.

Kids can get spoiled at the event with rides from the “Smokey Joe” miniature steam train. You'll also find a flea market, an ice cream stand and a daily parade of equipment. The event opens at 10 a.m. each day from Friday, Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug. 5.

Federalsburg, Va., is close to Easton, Md., which means you could fit your show visit in along with a trip to the beach.
