Grab your favorite bicycle -- or unicycle if you're cool like that -- and join the Crop Hop, a cycling tour of Southern Maryland's farms coming up Sunday, Oct. 14.
This cycling tour through the farms of St. Mary's County will benefit the Southern Maryland Food Bank. On as you coast past silos, a few corn fields and the occasionally confused cow, you'll be smiling knowing all the proceeds will bring fresh farm foods to low-income families. (And hey, you're getting a workout, too.)
Choose from these four cycling tours:
- Silo Country: 63 miles, $60
- Harvest Hop: 29 miles, $60
- Barnstormer: 13 miles, $40
- Sprout Route: five miles, $40 adults, $20 kids
The deadline for online registration is Saturday, Oct. 13, but you can also register in person on the day of ride, which begins from the Home Grown Farm Market (21078 Three Notch Road, Lexington Park, Md.), about an hour and a half from downtown D.C.
