Savor every sweet moment at the Lewisburg Chocolate Festival in West Virginia this weekend.
However, it may be a good thing that this chocolate festival is four hours away from D.C., because almost every business in Lewisburg is taking part in this chocolatey overload. If it were any closer, you couldn't take advantage of the special lodging promotions the area has to offer, but at select hotels, you can receive tasting tokens, gift certificates and gift bags.
The festivities actually start on Thursday, April 12, with a chocolate dinner class at (Lewisburg's, not Manhattan's) Carnegie Hall. Activities run Friday as well, with the main events on Saturday, April 14.
At various locations throughout the city, you can enjoy pastry chef demos, a chocolate mousse-eating contests, chocolate making and even a 10k chocolate race (just try to particpate on an ampty stomach).
A special event ticket is available Friday for a demonstration and reception with the Greenbrier's Executive Chef Richard Rosendale. Tickets are $28.50 and include hors d'oeurves, beer, wine and desserts.
