Tour the Shenandoahs' Fall Foliage -- by Bike

A driving tour of fall foliage isn't as memorable as a biking tour. But that's where the Shenandoah Fall Foliage Bike Festival comes in.

Join the hundreds of cyclists in Staunton, Va., as they take to the winding roads of the Shenandoah Valley during the weekend of Oct. 19-21. There are 12 routes to choose from based on your ability, ranging from 12.6 to 100 miles, with well-marked roads and rest stops along each route.
Registration fees are $95 for adults , $25 kids (ages 6-17). Registering will get you a T-shirt, lunch on Saturday, brunch on Sunday and snacks at each rest stop.
The home base for the start to each route is at Shelburne Gym (300 Grubert Avenue, Staunton, Va.), about two and a half hours from D.C.
