The Shopper's Road Trip: Destination Philadelphia

Sorry, Uncle Sam -- this one's not for you. Marathon shoppers need but a three-hour road trip north for tax-free shop ops.

If the weather is icky, try a jaunt to the high-end King of Prussia mega mall, the largest mall on the East Coast. Otherwise, soak up some Vitamin D while ogling at the chic boutiques of Midtown Philly. Be sure to keep a steady pace as you arrive at The Shops at Liberty Place (we don't want you to miss a thing) and we really want you to roll out of that town in style.

Fashionistas will find Philadelphia should be right up their alley street, since in Philly, some streets are the see-and-be-seen type. Your designer shades may come in handy while you meander through the popular Rittenhouse Row and Manayunk districts, full of both big names like Kenneth Cole and boutiques like Sophy Curson.

If the thought of having more than 2,000 stores within walking distance gets a little overwhelming, take a breather. Try a stroll along the Manyunk Canal to collect your thoughts (and count your cash), or stop by the historic Reading Terminal Market to satisfy your hunger cravings. The market offers fresh produce, meats and seafood, and one-of-a-kind gifts.

Just remember: Bring money for public parking. Street parking can be hard to find during holiday season.
