One great thing about living in the Mid-Atlantic region is being near... well, the Atlantic ocean. Bet you didn't see that one coming.
Regardless! Between June 1 and 12, OpSail 2012 is bringing a massive parade of sailboats, military fleet tours, fireworks and festivals to cities cities along the Virginia coast.
Visit spots such as Newport News, Virginia Beach and Norfolk to celebrate the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and to honor the U.S. Navy.
Go for the largest fireworks display on the East Coast, live performances and plenty of water activities to go around... and best of all, the events are free, including transportation.
