March Madness, Free Skiing at Skytop Lodge

Ski for free at Skytop Lodge located in the West Poconos (Skytop, Penn., about 250 miles from D.C.).

The Dutch colonial-style manor house offers a ski area that's currently open with a four-foot base of snow. It features four trails, two lifts -- and offers skiing/snowboarding instruction at the ski school. The winter value package includes accommodations, three meals per day, use of most winter activities, and the aforementioned free skiing.

The stonecrafted Skytop Lodge sits at the base of the Poconos Mountains and overlooks a serene 74-acre lake. The lodge features an award-winning golf course, two pools and (almost too many!) on-site activities included with your stay.

Winter brings snowshoeing, sledding, toboggan runs, indoor mini-golf and the new treetop adventure (an elevated obstacle course suspended between trees).

In the summer months, enjoy rock-climbing, kayaking, golf, canoeing, geocaching, paintball and whitewater rafting. Spread out across the 5,500 estate are enough hiking trails to satisfy even the most hard-core hikers/bikers -- we're talking 30+ miles of hiking trails here, c'mon!

To fuel up after all these activities, take a jaunt over to one of the restaurants at the lodge, including a tap room with a 40-bottle single malt scotch list.

The March Madness package (any Sunday through Thursday in March) offers a rate of $99 per nights, free skiing and plenty of spots to catch the NCAA games on the big screen.

March 30 through April 1 is Wine and Chocolate weekend. Enjoy a sweet weekend full of wine sampling, chocolate tastings and wine pairings.
