Ivy Inn Dishes Up a Locally Inspired V-Day Menu

Spend Valentines Day with your sweetheart amidst the casual elegance of a romantic five course menu at the Ivy Inn Restaurant (2244 Old Ivy Road, Charlottesville, Va., about two and a half hours southwest of D.C.).

This charming restaurant is just one mile west of the University of Virginia and is considered the best-kept secret in Charlottesville.

The contemporary American menu was inspired by Italian and French cuisines, based on Chef Angelo Vangelopouos' training at D.C.'s award-winning La Colline (which has since closed, so don't try Yelp).

Although the flavors are international, the seasonal menus drawn from local sources. Chef Angelo isn't afraid to use Central Virginia's farmers for produce -- it's his way of promoting sustainable farming.

Menu items include slow-cooked veal shank, Greek-style duet of lamb (homage to his immigrant Greek father) and warm double chocolate shortcakes. All items will pair harmoniously with the award-winning wine list of American wines (some from Virginia vineyards).

On Valentine's Day, let the food romance you as you are served five-course prix fixe menu for $60 per person. Dinner is served nightly from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended.
