Massive Music Fest in Lancaster

Who woulda thunk it? Lancaster, Penn., it turns out, is the place to be for budding musicians.

The fourth annual Launch Music Conference and Festival is set for April 26-29. It's an entire weekend of live music and insider workshops with industry professionals.

More than 200 bands from all over the U.S. and Canada will perform throughout the weekend, ranging from high school start-ups to major label veterans. Headliners include Rusted Root, The Felice Brothers and Texas in July.

Bands will perform at various venues within five blocks of the downtown Lancaster area. At the Lancaster County Convention Center (25 S. Queen St., Lancaster, Penn.), you can see booking agents, talent managers and publicists discuss their experiences and offer tips during live panel discussions. Topics can range from how to land a booking agent to drumming and performance techniques (with real drums and a real drummer). Everyone needs a little mentoring, right?

You can buy tickets for both the festival and conference online. Music festival wristbands are $15 for either Friday or Saturday night, or $25 for the full weekend.
