Yappy Hours at Keswick Vineyards

Your dog will love you for this one. Every Sunday, Keswick Vineyards (1575 Keswick Winery Drive, Keswick, Va.) hosts a Yappy Hour -- although, reps from the winery say, dogs are always allowed, and people bring them year-round.

Your fur kids will get to socialize with other dogs while you sip some award-winning wines. Keswick puts an emphasis on natural methods, and ferments most of its wine using natural or native yeasts. All of their reds are currently bottled un-fined and un-filtered (filtered or decanting is recommended before drinking).

Keswick also invites a local rescue group to stop by on select Sundays to show which animals they have available for adoption... just in case the dog gets lonely when you're at work. (Yes, we might be projecting a little.)

Regular tastings are held daily from 9 a.m. to 5p.m in the tasting room, with a tasting fee of $5/person. Call the vineyard (434-244-3341) to make sure it's happening before you get in the car, since you'll be traveling about 100 miles southwest of downtown D.C.

If you go, tote along some non-perishable items. The winery is collecting for the Blue Ridge Food Bank, and if you donate between Nov. 25 and 24, they'll waive your regular tasting fee.
