Welcome to Watch List, where we identify five things on TV to watch while you stay at home and blow up the inflatable skeleton, arrange the fake cobwebs on the shrubbery, try and get the soy sauce stains out of your kid’s Princess Leia costume, and fill the candy dish with just the right combination of Reese’s, Snickers, and more Reese’s. Do you mix 3 Musketeers into the bowl? Then you are a Communist. LET’S GO!
THE WALKING DEAD – 10:00PM Sunday (AMC) Apart from possibly “Boardwalk Empire,” I don’t know that there’s a more highly anticipated fall show than AMC’s brand new horror series, based on the graphic novels. The series was developed by “Shawshank Redemption” director Frank Darabont, who also directed the pilot. Darabont’s filmmaking roots are in the horror genre. He wrote “Nightmare on Elm Street 3,” a remake of “The Blob,” “The Fly II,” and of course adapted three Stephen King stories into feature-length movies. So if you want a show with serious pedigree, you’ve come to the right place. The reviews? Staggeringly good. Take a look at what the LA Times said: “The first zombie epic, with sprawling storylines, archetypal characters and imagery to rival ‘Gone With the Wind.’” I think that means they like it. Holy smokes, I am jazzed for this. ANTICIPATION: UNDEAD!
LAW & ORDER: UK – 9:00PM Tonight (BBC America) Did you know they had a British version of this show? I totally didn’t. Expect lots of ripped from the headlines cases, but with a British flair! I’m thinking soccer WAG deaths, am I right? ANTICIPATION: FRESHEN YOUR CELL, GUVNAH?
THE PACK – 9:00PM Tonight (NatGeo – an NBC/Universal network) This new series follows a pride of lions in Africa’s Singita Game Reserves. It’s just like Meerket Manor, only the meerkats get torn limb from limb and feasted upon as an appetizer to a delicious gazelle dinner. ANTICIPATION: ROARRRR!
EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION – 8:00PM Sunday (ABC) The crew renovates the Oregon School for the Deaf, and turns the basement into a Haunted House for Halloween. Guest starring for the groundbreaking are Marlee Matlin and Rob Zombie. And if you can find two more incongruously chosen stars for a show, I welcome the challenge. ANTICIPATION: THEY CAN’T HEAR YOU SCREAM!
STEELERS/SAINTS – 8:15PM Sunday (NBC) Best game of the week, and it comes with drunken New Orleans people wearing distasteful Halloween costumes. ANTICIPATION: FREAKS MARCHING IN!
