Streep as “The Iron Lady” in New Teaser

It ain't much, but it's something...

The first footage of Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady" hit the tubes today. The whole video is only 59-seconds long, and Streep is only onscreen for 11 seconds, and we don't exactly have an idea of what Thatcher was actually like (we're not that old), so it's hard to judge her work. The clip shows an impish side to Thatcher that caught us by surprise--though Christopher Hitchens claims she once smacked him on the backside.

"The Iron Lady," which arrives Dec. 16, reunites Streep with "Mama Mia!" director Phyllida Lloyd, working from a script by Abi Morgan--no relation to her fellow screen-biographer of Britons Peter Morgan.
