Weekend Watch List: Grammys, Hammy and Dushku

Welcome to Watch List, where we identify five things this weekend that may possibly be worth shunning your loved ones and general health for. LET’S GO!

    DOLLHOUSE – 8PM Tonight (FOX)

Tonight’s episode is the second half of the “lost” episode of Joss Whedon’s human playtoy series. The “Epitaph” episode, split in two, was not picked up as part of FOX’s first season order of the show, and until now, was only available on the first season DVD. Because the show is now cancelled, “Epitaph” also stands as the series’ ultimate finale. Here’s a quick synopsis for you:

In the year 2020, one year after the events of "Epitaph One," the last of the Actuals, along with the body of Iris still imprinted as Caroline, must find the original Echo/Caroline at Safe Haven so that Echo and her allies can attempt to restore order to a devastated future world before mankind is completely destroyed.

Got all that? No? Fear not. No one understands anything going on with this show. But it’ll look cool, it’ll have snappy dialogue, and Eliza Dushku will be, like, doing things. It could be in Esperanto and still be intriguing.

METEOR STORM – 9PM Saturday (SyFy)

You know what I like about these (NBC Universal-owned) SyFy original B-movies? They’re all so clearly titled. If they name the movie “Meteor Storm,” then by golly you are going to get some bigass meteors colliding with things. It continues the meme of self-explanatory SyFy movie titles, like “Giant Ants,” and “Killer Bat,” and “Cannibal Cyborg.” No ambiguity there.

    SNL – 11:29PM Saturday (NBC)

Jon Hamm returns! One of the show’s finest recent hosts comes back for a second guest stint, along with crooner Michael Buble (whose last name is always good for a giggle) as musical guest. Will we see a sketch on par with Jon Hamm’s John Ham? I’m hoping for something that involves sauna bologna.

GRAMMY AWARDS - 8PM Sunday (CBS)

This year’s Grammy ceremony will not have a host, and I frankly prefer my awards shows that way. Do I need pithy banter in between awards and performances? No, I do not. Scheduled performers include Beyonce, The Black Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi, Pink, Lady Gaga, Dave Matthews Band, Taylor Swift, Maxwell, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, and a 3D tribute to Michael Jackson performed by Usher. Ooh, 3D! If James Cameron directs that segment, I think we’re all in for a treat. There will also be a performance by the cast of Green Day’s “American Idiot” musical. Showtune versions of songs from an album I grew tired of three years ago? EXCITING!

This show involves rich people looking for houses and turning down virtually every home the poor realtor shows them. Occasionally, I like watching shows that make me want to punch people in the face, and this fits the bill quite nicely.
