Chloë Moretz Taking Aim at Karyn Kusama's “The Rut”

The Chloe Moretz Casting Machine keeping cranking, this time with the "Kick-Ass" Hit Girl in talks to star as a kid who must use her hunting skills when her father, who taught her everything she knows, goes missing.

"The Rut" is the latest film in development from director Karyn Kusama, and Moretz is eying the lead role, reported the LA Times. Since bursting onto the scene in 2000 with "Girlfight," about a young woman pursuing a boxing career behind her father's back, Kusma's been struggling to find her way, having directed two high-profile box-office bombs, "Aeon Flux" and "Jennifer's Body."

Michelle Rodriguez starred in Kusama's first feature, and the director has managed to attract big-name talent for her subsequent porjects, Landing Moretz would obviously guarantee nothing, but the actress is definitely hot right now and if she can squeeze you into her schedule, you'd be a fool not to cast her.

Moretz has the adolescent vampire romance "Let Me In" out Oct. 1; "The Fields," co-starring Sam Worthington, is due in 2011' she's currently filming "Hugo Cabret" with Martin Scorsese; and in addition to some other possible projects, she has the inevitable "Kick-Ass 2" on her horizon.
