Annette Bening Is "All Right" After Best Actress Win

After enjoying an introduction from Ricky Gervais that noted his familiarity with Betty Ford and the LAPD, Robert Downey Jr. came out to present the award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical.

"Aside from the fact that it’s been hugely mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones, I’d say the vibe of the show’s been pretty good so far, wouldn’t you?" opened RDJ, who then launched into a highly suggestive riff about each of the nominees that began with, "I don’t know if an actress can do her best work until I’ve slept with her—Julianne," and ended with "I'd give it to each of them. Right here on this stage." Stay classy, Bob.

Anyway, it somehow doesn't seem fair that Annette Bening's work in "The Kids Are All Right" was nominated in the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical category, but hey, what're you gonna do?

"My partner Julianne Moore I have to thank first," began Bening. "She asked me to do the picture with her, she made it possible for us to shot it where we shot it when we did, so, Julianne, you are a class act. Thank you."

Julianne Moore and Annette Benning star as a couple whose lives are turned upside-down when their two kids reach out to Mark Ruffalo, the man who donated the sperm to make them, in this Sundance favorite that's out July 7.

Bening then wrapped up her than with a shout out to "the 1962 winner of the Golden Glove most promising actor, my husband Warren Beatty."

It was a great performance in a very good film, but it was hardly comedic.
