“50/50” Trailer: We'll Take These Odds

We've had been looking forward to "50/50" since Joseph Gordon-Levitt replaced James McAvoy and the film was still called "I'm With Cancer." The new trailer that dropped late last night does not disappoint.

The film, based on the real-life experiences of Will Reiser, stars JGL as a young man given a 50/50 chance of surviving his battle with cancer. Seth Rogen, who also served as one of the film's producers, stars as the best friend who helps him through his fight, with Anjelica Houston starring as his mother, and Anna Kendrick as his shrink.

It's a film about a guy's struggle with cancer, so there's gonna be some serious emoting, but the trailer suggests that director Jonathan Levine ("The Wackness") manages to keep things light, and Gordon-Levitt continues to prove himself to be one of the most watchable, talented and versatile actors working today.

We're also thrilled to see Kendrick outside of the "Twilight." She was so good in "Up in the Air" and "Scott Pilgrim," we hope that with the vampire franchise winding down, we'll be seeing more of her.

As much as we loved the addition of JGL, we hate the new title, but, hey, it's arguably the least important part of the film, so we'll try to get over ourselves.

"50/50" opens Sept. 30.
