Virginia Advances $150M in Transportation Projects; New I-395 Ramp Planned in Alexandria

Gov. Bob McDonnell says major Virginia transportation projects are moving forward.

McDonnell's office says that the Commonwealth Transportation Board advanced more than $150 million in transportation improvement projects this week.

The projects are being funded as a result of the governor's 2011 transportation funding and reform package.

Officials say the projects will help to better manage congestion, save drivers time and better connect drivers with some of Virginia's most vital employment centers.

The projects include a new Interstate 395 ramp in Alexandria, the replacement of four bridge structures on Route 360 in Hanover and Henrico counties, and improvements to Route 17 in Stafford County.

The board also authorized transportation officials to move forward with plans to improve access to Naval Station Norfolk and Norfolk International Terminals.
