Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine Meets With Immigrants, Muslims as Vice President Speculation Increases

As speculation increased about the possibility Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine will be chosen as Hillary Clinton's running mate, the Democratic senator reached out to immigrant and Muslim communities in Northern Virginia.

Kaine deflected questions about the veepstakes at events Thursday.

He made the case that Virginia's transformation over the past 60 years from segregation to embracing diversity is a message that can resonate this election season.

In the morning, Kaine addressed immigration issues at a Unitarian Universalist church in Arlington. In the afternoon, he spoke at a roundtable discussion sponsored by the All Dulles Area Muslims Society Center in Sterling.

He deflected speculation that he could become vice president. 

"I'm in a little, momentary bubble of attention. It will be normal again," he said.
