Ministers to Rally for Maryland's Dream Act

Religious leaders are scheduled to rally for the Maryland Dream Act.

The rally is set for Tuesday at the Southern Asian Seventh-day Adventist Church in Silver Spring.

Bishop Mariann Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and Bishop Francisco Gonzales of the Archdiocese of Washington are scheduled to attend.

Organizers say the Rev. Dr. David Cooney of the Baltimore-Washington Conference and Bishop Douglas Miles of Koinonia Baptist Churches also are set to be at the rally.

Question 4 on this year's ballot in Maryland would allow illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition at public colleges if their parents have paid taxes and if the students have attended Maryland schools.

The law was passed last year, but opponents succeeded in petitioning the law to the ballot for voters to decide.
