Bloomingdale Flooding Report Delivered To Gray

The final report from D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray's Bloomingdale and LeDroit park flooding prevention taskforce has been delivered to mayor, his office said today in a press release.

The final report reiterates a lot of what we already knew about the proposals to mitigate flooding in the Northwest neighborhoods: short term plans like clearing catch basins and reimbursing homeowners for backflow preventers, longer term plans like using the McMillan Sand Filtration site to hold water flowing from the north, and ultimately, a new tunnel system that can channel the water more efficiently.

“Completion of this vitally important analysis of the causes and possible solutions to the flooding in the Bloomingdale and LeDroit Park neighborhoods is yet another indication of how seriously my administration took this problem,” said Gray said in a statement.
