Washingtonian Pokes Fun At Ovechkin

Alex Ovechkin has landed the cover of Washingtonian magazine as the subject of some not-so-flattering commentary.

Ovi's busted smile appears prominantly on the front of the magazine's April issue next to the teaser, "Need a Really Good Dentist?"

The clearly old picture leads us to assume that the story did not have Ovechkin's blessing.

The issue is actually about the D.C. area's dentists and not about Ovechkin's dental shortcomings, but the magazine manages to somehow tie in their cover boy with an interview about the general oral habits of athletes.

When asked about Ovi's grin, dentist Marc Doctors (yes, his last name is Doctors), had this to say:

"It's like a trademark. He's an iconic figure. Because of that, he gets away with not having a front tooth. It's who he is."

Actually Dr. Doctors, being a 6-foot-2, 230-pound Russian who seemingly has the strength of 10 men might be why he gets away with it...
