The Wizards racked up technical fouls Monday night, including a pair that had coach Flip Saunders tossed from the game in the first quarter. But it was a technical called on John Wall that had us shaking our heads.
Wall drove hard, dunked on Celtics center Greg Stiemsma and gave him a “who’s your daddy” stare down. The ref, apparently offended by the glare, whistled Wall for the technical.
You could consider Wall’s post-dunk action taunting. You can also consider that calling a technical on an NBA player for looking at another player the wrong way is pretty lame.
“I think I had the right to stare at him,” Wall told The Post. “I guess you can’t stare at people when stuff happen. I just stared at him at got a quick tech. It was the same thing when other people make plays, and the players say something to you and they don’t get nothing. I just had to keep my head the rest of the game because I didn’t want to get ejected and cost my teammates.”
We definitely think the official was a little quick with the whistle on this one.
