The Possible Departure of Clinton Portis

It is being speculated that Clinton Portis might be done in Washington. After starting his Redskins career as one of the most productive team members, he has had an injury-plagued last two seasons and his $8.3 million salary for next year makes him a liability.

Portis told our own Lindsay Czarniak that he's apparently done in D.C.

"It's time to move on," Portis told Czarniak. "Parting ways with the organization is best for both situations. I can't grow within this situation. The same passion I had while playing for Coach Gibbs isn't there."

So while it doesn’t come as a surprise, it does come with a certain amount of sadness. Portis was one of the more interesting guys on the team, and his predictably unpredictable antics made him fun to watch on and off the field.

As we prepare to possibly say goodbye, let’s look back on some of the reasons we love Clinton Portis.

HE HAD US AT HELLO

With his first touch for the Redskins in 2004 Portis ran for a 64 yard score.

HE LOVED TO MAKE PEOPLE SMILE

Watching him bring his own brand of fun to this Special Oympics event reminds us of just how much of an impact Portis had on the community.

HE'S A CHARACTER (OR TWENTY)

Portis’ press conference characters were a thing of beauty. Especially the sexiness that was Choo Choo.

So long, Clinton. We'll miss you.
