Sandy Forces D.C. United To Host Leg 1 of MLS Playoffs Against Red Bull New York Saturday

Due to the damage left behind by Hurricane Sandy, Leg 1 of the MLS Eastern Conference Semifinal between D.C. United and Red Bull New York will be held at RFK Stadium Saturday at 8 p.m.

Red Bull New York, as the lower seed in the matchup, was set to host the first leg, but because of the severe impact that Sandy had on New Jersey -- Red Bull New York plays its home games in Harrison, just outside of Newark -- the schedule has been flipped. Leg 2 will take place at Red Bull Arena next Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Yeah, I didn't get a lot of what I wrote, either. Here are the official rules regarding the MLS Playoffs:

Conference Semifinals: The four Conference Semifinals will be decided by two-game aggregate series, with the lower seed hosting the first leg and the higher seed hosting the second leg. If the aggregate score is tied at the end of regulation time of the second leg, two 15-minute extra time periods will be played in their entirety, followed by penalty kicks, if necessary. The winners will advance to the Conference Championships.

Both games will be televisted on NBC Sports Network.
