Robert Griffin III Has “Mild Sprain” in Right Knee, Not Ruled Out for Sunday Against Browns

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has a "mild sprain" of his right knee and is "definitely not ruled out" of this Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, according to head coach Mike Shanahan.

Griffin suffered the injury during the final minutes of last Sunday's 31-28 overtime victory over the Baltimore Ravens when Haloti Ngata caught Griffin's leg while tackling him. Even though he returned to the game for four plays, Griffin ultimately watched from the sideline as Kirk Cousins completed the comeback for Washington.

Shanahan said Monday that Griffin's injury is a Grade 1 sprain of the lateral collateral ligament (LCL) and that there is no structural damage to the rest of the knee.

Griffin is listed as "day-to-day" and his status for practice Wednesday is unknown
