How do you know you've made it in the NFL? In Robert Griffin III's case, it may not be by resurrecting one of the league's most storied franchises or even winning Offensive Rookie of the Year. It might be when the NFL asks about your recovery from knee surgery when putting together its national television schedule.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the NFL has asked the Redskins when they expect RGIII to return from his right knee injury so that they can figure out their broadcast schedule for 2013.
It makes perfect sense; Washington was only on national television during the regular season three times last year -- Monday Night Football v. the New York Giants Dec. 3 as well as both games against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day and Sunday Night Football Dec. 30 -- so most of the country did not get an opportunity to see RGIII live until he was writhing in pain against the Seahawks in the NFC Wild Card Round.
Yet, unlike RGIII's knee, having one of the league's most marketable players certainly doesn't hurt.
