Redskins Close Out Preseason Against Buccaneers

Considering the amount of news that emanated from Ashburn on Tuesday, no one would blame you if you forgot that the Washington Redskins actually have a football game to play Wednesday.

With that being said, the 'Skins will close out the preseason Wednesday when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at FedEx Field.

To be blunt, this will be the most boring preseason game from a personnel standpoint; most of the projected starters for Washington's season opener next Sunday against the New Orleans Saints will not play. Quarterback Kirk Cousins will start in place of Robert Griffin III, who will be a spectator for the first (and hopefully last) time this season.

Players who will take the field, however, will have one last chance to impress Washington's brass, who must trim the roster from 75 to 53 by Saturday evening. Keep an eye on the position battles at wide receiver and in the secondary, where several players are still in the mix for a roster spot.

On the opposite side of the field, the Bucs are 2-1 this preseason. Current Redskins defensive back coach/former Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris will face his former team for the first time.

The game will be broadcast live on NBC4 at 7 p.m. NBC Nightly News will be air 30 minutes earlier at 6:30 to accommodate the game. Republican National Convention coverage will begin immediately after. "America's Got Talent" will air on NBC Washington Nonstop (check your cable provider's channel guide).
