Male Bride Amuses Werth

The Nationals came away from Saturday’s game against Atlanta with a win. They also got a story that will certainly become legend in the locker room.

During the bottom of the eighth inning, a man jumped onto the warning track (as crazy fans sometimes do) and began running across Turner Field. But it wasn’t his actions that drew stares as much as it was his attire.

He (yes, he) was wearing a wedding dress.

“Yeah, that was something I had never experienced before,” Tyler Clippard told the Washington Post. “I mean, I’ve seen it happen, but I’ve never been on the field when it’s happened. It was kind of frustrating, threw off my rhythm a little bit, but you know, I got through it.”

Jayson Werth was so amused that he couldn’t help but wander closer to the chaos in the outfield to get a better look.

Security quickly tackled and cuffed the “bride,” who was carried off the field to a round of cheers from the crowd.

“That was a pretty good open-field tackle, too,” said Davey Johnson. “I’m just wondering was he getting married, or is he going to the wedding or coming from it. I don’t know.”

Hopefully these questions won’t keep you up at night, Davey.
