Much to the chagrin of Bryce Harper, attendance at Nationals Park has been dwindling recently, but it hasn't been a total loss because the lack of fan support gave us a good laugh at the Marlins' expense Wednesday.
In the bottom of the eighth, Ryan Zimmerman popped up a pitch that drifted into foul territory along the first base side. Logan Morrison gave chase and seemed to be in position to make the catch and end the inning, but some child began screaming unintelligibly, which Morrison must have confused for one of his teammates calling him off.
This is the easy joke, but the Marlins should be used to amplified crowd noise, considering they regularly play in an empty stadium.
