Local Boxer Tests Positive for Synthetic Hormones

D.C. native Lamont Peterson says he forgot to disclose a medical treatment he underwent last year

A local boxer tested positive for synthetic testosterone last month but says it was a medical treatment.

Washington, D.C. native Lamont Peterson says he was treated for low testosterone levels last year but forgot to disclose the information.

Peterson’s lawyer sent a letter to the Nevada Athletic Commission explaining why the boxer tested positive for the substance in March.

If the commission doesn’t accept Peterson’s explanation, his May 19 rematch against Amir Khan in Las Vegas could be canceled.

The decision could come as early as Wednesday.
