Justin Tuck: Robert Griffin III “Takes Away From Your Enthusiasm For The Game A Little Bit” As Defensive Player

The Giants' vaunted defensive line has been taking shots at Robert Griffin III since before the season started, but after seeing him up close and personal for the first time Sunday, those same Giants praised RGIII.

"That guy is flat-out unbelievable," Osi Umenyiora said to reporters. "That's the best quarterback we've played this year, for sure."

"He’s faster in person than he is on tape," Chris Canty added. "He’s very, very fast. He’s a very talented young man. He’s going to have a lot of success in this league.”

But the "Most Unusual Praise For A Rookie Quarterback From Baylor" award goes to Justin Tuck, whose comments took the cake. Or more appropriately, the 12-inch Oven Roasted Chicken sub.

"I'm pretty mad at the football gods for putting him in the NFC East," he said. "A quarterback like that, he's different from the Elis [Mannings] and those guys. He presents...it's just hard to gameplan that guy. He takes away from your enthusiasm for the game a little bit when you play a play perfectly and he still has 4.3 speed to outrun guys and make plays. I don't think there's anybody in the league just like him."

"You know what I said to him after?" Tuck said to USA Today. "Well, first I said, 'You're stealing all my Subway airtime,' and he laughed. And then I said, 'I love the way you play.' He said, 'I like the way you guys play.'

New at Subway: Humble pie.
