John Wall Hands Out 500 Turkeys to Families in Need

Thanksgiving is just days away and Wizards star John Wall is making sure families in need have a turkey on their table for the holiday.

Wall handed out 500 turkeys Thursday to residents in the nonprofit organization Bright Beginnings, which supports children and families experiencing homlessness in D.C.

Supporting less fortunate families is an issue that hits close to home for the Wizards guard.

"My mom had to work multiple jobs and try to provide for my sisters and brothers ... but I'm in a position where I have an opportunity to give back, but I also want to be there and be involved and be the guy that's giving those turkeys out, or be the guy that's giving that backpack out -- no matter what the weather conditions are, " Wall said.

Video and photos show Wall passing out the turkeys from the back of a Giant Foods truck in the wet snow.

"These people have the opportunity to come out receive a blessing. I can be there to be the one to give that blessing. So, it's a blessing for me and an honor so I just thank the man above," he said.

His organization, the John Wall Family Foundation, partnered with Giant to give out the turkeys.
