Jason Chimera Latest Capital to Bolt During NHL Lockout, Signs With Czech League Team

Jason Chimera became the latest Washington Capitals player to sign overseas during the NHL lockout, agreeing to terms with HC Chomutov of the Czech League, according to his agent, Allan Walsh.

Chimera, who was functioning as Washington's NHLPA player representative, is the seventh Caps player to sign in Europe, joining Alex Ovechkin (KHL), Nicklas Backstrom (KHL), Brooks Laich (National League A), Marcus Johansson (Allsvenskan), Michal Neuvirth (Czech League) and Wojtek Wolski (Polish League).

The NHL lockout is more than eight weeks long, and after week-long talks broke down last week, the league and the union have no plans to meet at this time.

All games through Nov. 30 and the annual Winter Classic, which was set to take place Jan. 1, have been canceled as a result of the ongoing labor strife.
