Georgetown Football Team Holding Open Tryouts For Placekickers

Hey you. Yes, you who clicked on this story. Do you like kicking things? Do you like football? Would you like to kick footballs for a I-AA team that finished 8-3 last season?

Do I have an opportunity for you.

Well, you have to be a student at Georgetown University, so I apologize if I got your hopes up. If you are a current student, then I still have an opportunity for you.

The Hoyas football is holding open tryouts for a kicker August 30, according to The Hoya.

According to the press release, Georgetown is looking "to add depth at the position." In reality, the Hoyas have one kicker currently on their roster; Brett Weiss, a second-team all-Patriot League selection last season, has graduated, leaving junior Devon Papandrew as the lone kicker.

Don't worry, though. Papandrew has never attempted a field goal or a PAT for the Hoyas, so I guess you can find common footing there (pun intended).

Seriously, the tryouts will begin August 30 at 4 p.m. at the school's Multi-Sport Field.

Those interested in participating in the open tryout should contact Georgetown Director of Football Operations Justin Brown by calling 202-687-6700 or emailing him at jb2248@georgetown.edu.

The season begins September 1 at Davidson, which gives the new kicker about two days to get acclimated to his new surroundings. Good planning.
