Drew Brees Met Robert Griffin III After Beating Him At Madden Bowl

When Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees meet on the field Sunday afternoon, it won't actually be the first time they have gone head-to-head.

"Funny enough, myself, Jimmy Graham and [Tim] Tebow played him and a couple other guys in the Madden Bowl at the Super Bowl last year in Indianapolis," Brees said during his press conference Wednesday. "We actually beat him on a last-second touchdown to Lance Moore. We were the Saints. I can't remember who they were. That was the first time I had the chance to meet him."

Brees, Graham and Tebow defeated the team of Griffin, Justin Blackmon and LaMichael James 16-13 in Madden Bowl XVIII in February. For what it's worth, the "Rookie Team" played as the Detroit Lions, so they sort of set themselves up for failure.

Gentle ribbing aside, Brees had nothing but good things to say about RGIII.

"His talent and athletic ability is phenomenal," Brees said. "I like the guy because he's a Texas quarterback and we stick together. I've admired him from afar. I think he carries himself with a lot of confidence."
