Georgetown star returns to practice

Chris Wright on His Practice Fall

There was a brief moment of concern at Georgetown's practice when Chris Wright used his injured hand to brace his fall. (Published Tuesday, March 15, 2011)

This afternoon, the Georgetown Hoyas left their campus for Chicago, site of their second-round NCAA Tournament game against the winner of the USC/VCU game.

The big question surrounding the Hoyas has been the health of senior guard Chris Wright, who broke his left hand diving for a loose ball Feb. 23 against Cincinnati. He had surgery the next day and hasn't played since.

On Saturday, Wright was medically cleared to practice and he began doing that on Monday -- but not without a bit of scare for his teammates and coaches. At some point during practice, he fell to the ground and used his hands to brace his fall. Coaches and teammates went silent for a moment to see if Wright would be OK. He got up and went back to practicing.

Wright said he felt no pain which is a good sign for the Hoyas. They will need Chris Wright if they expect to make a deep run in the tournament.
