T.J. Oshie has undergone surgery to repair a fracture in his right clavicle, putting him off the ice "indefinitely" during the Stanley Cup Final, the Capitals confirm.

Oshie yelled out and lay on the ice grimacing in pain after Carolina forward Warren Foegele checked him in Game 4, sending him careening into the boards.

He was helped to the X-ray at Raleigh's PNC Arena by two medical personnel, NBC Sports Washington reported. Foegele received a 2-minute penalty for the contact with Oshie.

Losing the team's second leading goal scorer doesn't bode well for a team that's gunning for a second consecutive Stanley Cup, as NBC Sports Washington reports.

But the Capitals called up Devante Smith-Pelly and managed to bounce back from back-to-back loses on Saturday, winning 6-0.

It's unclear when Oshie had the surgery, but the team said it was sucessful. Oshie was tweeting before and after the Caps' blowout Game 5.

"I’m in good hands with our training staff, doctors and especially mama bear at home with her 2 little helpers. DC I need you to make some noise tonight for my boys. I want to hear you through the TV," Oshie tweeted before the game.

The Caps completed their stunning win as fans in Capital One Arena chanted "T.J. Oshie" again and again.

After, Oshie tweeted again: "Caps fans you guys are amazing!! Thanks for the chants tonight!!"

The team announced the surgery Sunday morning. Without Oshie, the Capitals head back to Raleigh on Monday leading the series 3-2.
