Capitals Release Regular Season, Training Camp Schedule

Now that the NHL lockout is officially over, the Washington Capitals released their truncated 2013 schedule Saturday evening. The Caps will open next Saturday in Tampa Bay against the Lightning. They will open the home portion of their schedule Jan. 22 against the Winnipeg Jets at Verizon Center.

With only 48 regular-season games, all contests will be intraconference; Eastern Conference teams will only play other Eastern Conference teams and Western teams will play Western teams.

Washington will face two of its Southeast Division rivals -- the Jets and Carolina Hurricanes -- five times each and the other two -- the Lightning and Florida Panthers -- four times each. The Caps will play their non-divisional opponents three times each.  You can peruse the entire schedule here. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, training camp will begin Sunday and run through Friday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington. All sessions begin at 10:30 a.m. and are free and open to the public. On Thursday, Jan. 17, the Caps will host a " Caps Fan Appreciation Special Event" at Verizon Center from 6-9 p.m. There will be an open practice from 7-8 p.m. as well as games, photo opportunities and a player Q&A session.
