3 Things to Watch When Bryce Harper Returns to DC

Bryce Harper and the Phillies start their two-game series against the Nationals

Bryce Harper and the Phillies start their two-game series against the Nationals. Here's the three things to watch for:

1. How will fans react to Harper? It's the first time that the outfielder has returned since a dramatic departure for Philadelphia in the offseason. He wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday that he expected boos. In an exclusive interview with The Racing Presidents podcast, Mayor Muriel Bowser joked that "he's a big boy. He knows what to expect." Oh, and don't forget to look for the creative thing that fans will do with their old Harper jerseys.

2. One person not worried about it? Max Scherzer. "We're going to be facing each other a lot," he pointed out when asked about the matchup. "This is just the first. Whatever happens on Tuesday, it's going to be the course of a career of facing him. This is just round one."

3. The new-look Phillies: The Phillies offense showed flashes at times last season, but this is an entirely new lineup with big additions from the offseason (even outside of Harper). How will Scherzer and the Nats fare against a greatly improved lineup?
