Windy Halloween Night Ahead

Winds will pick up Thursday night, prompting a wind advisory west of D.C.

Expect gust conditions after 8 p.m. Gusts up to 40 mph are possible in the D.C. metro area.

From midnight until 8 a.m. Friday, a wind advisory is in effect for Washington, Frederick, Rappahannock, Loudoun and northern Fauquier counties, including the cities of Hagerstown, Frederick, Winchester and Leesburg. Expect winds of 15-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

That means the possibility of power outages due to tree and power line damage.

There will also be small areas of light rain Thursday night. Rain will increase Friday morning before ending about noon.
