The National Weather Service confirmed eight tornado touchdowns in Maryland last week.
The agency said the most powerful twister hit St. Mary's County near Breton Bay on April 28 with 90 mph winds. The storm snapped and uprooted numerous large trees and caused roofing damage along a path more than 3 miles long.
Allegany County had two touchdowns early that same morning in and around the Green Ridge State Forest.
Other tornadoes were confirmed April 28 in Baltimore County near Hampstead, Calvert County near Lusby, Carroll County near Westminster and Montgomery County near Poolesville.
A twister hit Prince George's County near Andrews Air Force Base on the evening of April 27.
No injuries were reported from the storms.
