Monday's high temperature of 84 degrees -- 19 degrees above the average for April 11 -- was not a sign of days to come. It was more of a tease similar to Monday last week.
An area of low pressure southwest of the Washington region brought rain Tuesday morning. There's a chance of more rain during the afternoon.
Most of the rain from the system could fall to the north and west of D.C. We may only see the dry section of this system, but it will bring cooler temperatures. Expect temperatures to drop to 60 degrees and possibly into the 50s, and dress accordingly.
A similar scenario played out last week, when there was a high of 85 degrees on Monday followed by considerably less summery weather the rest of the week.
The weather will remain cooler Wednesday, with highs around 60 degrees and a 40 percent chance of rain. Thursday and Friday could see temperatures rising to about 70 degrees.
