Severe T-Storm Watch Cancelled for D.C. Area

A severe thunderstorm watch was been cancelled for D.C. and much of suburban Maryland and Virginia Wednesday. The watch was initially scheduled to last through 7 p.m. until it was cancelled.

In Maryland, the watch applied to Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's counties.

In Virginia, the watch included Arlington, Alexandria and Falls Church, and Fairfax and Loudoun counties.

Those in affected areas were told to be prepared for heavy rains and high winds, and the potential for downpours and some ponding on area roads.

An earlier warning for Frederick and Washington counties in Maryland expired at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
