Scattered Thundershowers Possible Thursday Afternoon

Hope you grabbed your umbrella this morning: Warm and possibly stormy weather Thursday will replace the freezing temperatures that kicked off the work week.

Scattered thundershowers may move into the area between 3 and 7 p.m., staying mainly south of D.C.

Right now, there does not appear to be a risk of severe storms, but passing downpours with lightning and thunder are possible. A few areas could also experience damaging winds.

As for temperatures, it will feel like summer again Thursday afternoon with highs in the mid-80s, which is 10 degrees warmer than average -- and a stark difference from the 30 degree temps we saw this past Monday.

And while stormy, summer weather may not be everyone's cup of tea, the area needs the rain. The region is about 2 and a half inches below average for the year so far.
